OH MY WORD...Five years!

Who would've guessed that in October of 2007, on a mission trip to South Africa, David and I would've begin to see a change in what the Lord would have us "do" for a career. David in management at Trane and myself, a pharmacist, both with great jobs, great house, great children, great church, etc.... But several years back we began to feel the Lord saying to us He wanted more for us. What that "more" was, we didn't know.

David and I both love love love missions and teenagers, so when we worked with J-Life in 2007 we knew possibly that this could be the "more" God was talking about. J-Life is about the work of training youth leaders/workers to do youth ministry the way that Christ did ministry. J-Life at the time was in about 8-10 African countries and with David's background in management, it seemed like a perfect fit. Management of young men across Africa to help them be the best country leader they could be using the principles of business through glorifying the Lord. J-Life has seen a rapid growth and is now in more that 20 countries in Africa. As many of you know in business and ministry, with growth come growing pains. I believe whole heartedly David was put on the management team of J-Life to use those skills to help. Myself, being a mom, my roll is a bit less defined. I am "girl friday". I help where I can with camps, training and our events that occur during school holidays such as STeM, Sports camp, Administration work, etc....

So, you see, God uses ordinary people who are willing to say yes to what ever He has planned for your life. Missionaries don't look like what we think of way back when. Carry their Bibles door to door and setting up evangelistic crusades. Don't misunderstand me, there are places for this work, but the point is missionaries look like you or me, plan ordinary people ready to be used by the Lord.

A special thank you to all the people who have worked for the last 5 years with TYW to help in all areas. Most of which were not in any limelight. The Evens appreciate you and covet our partnership in this adventure.
