Ft White

Well, back at home and a little time to reflect before our year at J-Life begins on Sunday. Whew...We traveled 10 hours south to the Eastern Cape of South Africa through some "mountainous" regions. And got about 75 kilometers close to Lesotho. I was tempted to suggest we go traveling east just a bit to get a stamp in our passport and then I remembered we didn't have ours with us! Oh well! So we arrive at Ft. White and begin to talk with Becky and Philip Fudge who have arrived back about a month prior from the States and realized quickly there is much to be done. Not only before the team from FBC McKinney arrives but just in general. I don't know how the Fudge's are not overwhelmed on a daily basis. It comes from knowing that the Lord is in control of all things and knows the timing of everything. We worked diligently on the list together. Becky and I worked on the shopping and housing issues. David and Philip worked on the tiling of floors, new locks, making benches and a numerous other things.

One morning, all of us and Fetus, a great worker at Ft. White, went to the cabbage field and cut the cabbage that was about to go bad. We then loaded it into the back of the truck or bakkie (pronounced 'buckey') as we call it in South Africa. We then went to the village just across the field from us and gave it away. Some people were very skeptical about something for free. For free? They would ask. Some would say, "But I have no money..." We would say yes for free. Just take it! All you do it have to accept it! Just like the gift of Christ. Grace is free, we just have to accept it.

When the FBC team arrived we all celebrated in seeing new and old friends again! They were a little weary from the trip, but we were excited to see them! We began work on Monday morning on the school and spread the word about the Bible school in the afternoons. The kids were SO excited about going to Ft White! It was such a blessing painting the school and making it look so nice. The men began work on the ground for the new play set. The afternoons were so fun with the children laughing and playing and singing. It was a joy!
