Jimmy O

Well we knew this day was coming for quite some time. My Uncle Jimmy, otherwise known as JO, J Owens, Jimmy or by his nieces (us Dyer girls) just plain 'ol uncle jimmy, died this morning African time. He had fought a long (13 years long) battle with cancer. Days like these when life changes at home and you feel like you can't change with it. It's like deaths, marriages, divorces, and births all happen and somehow we are suppose to adjust. Adjusting is hard whether your in the midst of the situation right by the person who's life has just changed or you are the person life is changing. Does this make sense ?
You see when we signed up for this missionary gig I wasn't prepared for all the life changing events that would happen, people adjust and we are expected to adjust too. Which is crazy to think that people you move away from stay stagnant, after all their lives don't evolve around us and should not.
The only think I can think to relate it to is like going off to college. You have a home home but you have a college home. Things still happen at home home but hopefully not in such huge ways that you can't adjust to when home on the weekend. It's like living is two separate but combined worlds. Am I making any sense here?
It's been almost 5 years of this gig and many things change. People change, babies become toddlers or even school kids! After realizing that adjusting our lives to where God wanted is physically, we have to adjust our minds and attitudes towards events such as death, marriage, divorce and birth.
You realize this is not our home. We are here for a short while. Hoping and praying we are doing all we can to point others toward the love of Christ. So, in my suffering Christ will be glorified. He is Alpha and omega.
Colossians 1:17 says He is before ALL things and in HIM all things hold together.
My life verse shown to me by a dear lady that has gone to heaven Blessed to know I'll see her and Uncle Jimmy again one day.

Israel or not?

Well many of you may or may not know that J-Life ministries is partners with GYI (Global youth initiative). Their vision of spreading the gospel though youth and doing ministry like Jesus did is much the same as ours. You ask, what does this involve Israel? Well, they take about 30 people each year and teach them over a 2 week time period the life and death of Jesus. In real time hold the stone swim in the Sea of Galilee kind of teaching. Only 3-4 of our Jlife trainers get to go each year. David went 2 years back but since others were 'in line' to go and I had to stay with the children, I didn't go.

Well, a family trip has come in the works for next March/April trip. John Abrahamse is leading this group. The question is not do I want to go because of course who wouldn't want to go?? To see, feel, touch, smell and taste the places where Christ did ministry. Out training with Jlife is based on how Christ did ministry.
But, either we take all 4 of us or maybe I just go with Matthew who at the age of 14 is prime for learning and seeing the Bible in living color!

Please pray that we would know clearly what to do and who to take. I hate to hope and get excited about it.

Pray clearly that finances would be worked out and we would use our money the wisest way.

Pray that the unrest in some of those areas would settle during the coming months.

Xxx
Liz
