January 2011

January started off with a
bang!! We have been super busy
getting ready for our new year of
training. As we told you last month,
the training year looks a bit different
than last year. So, we say goodbye
to our South African trainees
this weekend to go and serve in
their churches. We have two teams
as well as various other youth workers
back at their home churches.
The trainees started off by going to
Bush Camp for 3 days where they
cooked over a fire, learned about
community and bonded with their
fellow trainees. They are learning so
much over the first month, but focusing
on where to start once they
are in their church. They are going
to focus on school ministry, mentoring
and having a strategy for
developing the youth ministry.
They will return in April for more
training. This pattern will continue
for the entire year.
We got a very welcomed
visit from Jon Glidden and Brian
Easley! It was good to see faces from
home and all the goodies they
brought from home for us!! Thanks
to everyone who sent stuff! We
REALLY appreciate it! I don’t know
who had more fun with the Nerf
guns, my kids or Jon and Brian. Jon
thought Grace was quiet when he
first arrived. I don’t think he
thought that when he left.
We also have recently welcomed
Billy and Darlene Honc to
our J-Life staff. We are so excited to
see what the Lord has planned for
them. We so appreciate your
