Hi-Ho Hi-Ho

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho, it’s off to work we go….

Hello folks!! We have had a relaxing end of December and beginning of January. Some of you may remember that South Africa shuts down from mid December until this week and some until next week. It was pretty weird at first because we were used to working up until Christmas and then straight after, but we have adapted (big smile)!

This week we will start our year with our new J-Life trainees. We are doing it a little different this year in that the trainees will stay at Camp Eden (J-Life farm) for a month and then return to their churches or to their assigned churches if they are on a training team for about 10 weeks. We will do this schedule back and forth for the entire year. The teams and youth workers will have more opportunities to implement the things they have learned quicker than in the past. They also will not have the overwhelming feeling of trying to implement all they’ve learned and remembering all they’ve learned. Our international trainees (those not from South Africa) will stay at Camp Eden for first three months and continue the training schedule. The logistics of getting back and forth from their countries is too much and too expensive for everyone. This is a good thing though because each country is different and has to adapt what they have learned to their country with their specific culture.

We are super excited about the new year and are excited to see what the Lord will bring. Matthew and Grace only start school on January 18th, so we all will be able to travel back and forth to the farm. It’s important that I and the children are there as much as possible because it allows us to get to know the trainees and for the children to feel involved in our work.

Prayer Request:
  • ·         Endurance for the coming months for each of us. David as he travels back and forth to the farm (about an hour). Myself and the kids for when he is gone.
  • ·         David’s health- He is almost back to 100% after his bout with a encephalitis-like virus. Pray that his health will continue to improve and the heat will not get him down.
  • ·         Matthew and Grace as they start a new year at school. That they will be able to show love and mercy in a world that often does not. Matthew is in Grade 6 and Grace is in Grade 4.
  • ·         Liz-That I will be able to continue in the school ministries and have opportunities to start a new ministry in the local hospital.
  • ·         For our new J-Life trainees-that they will be able to grow and learn about Jesus’ life and how He did ministry. That they also will be able to implement what they have learned about youth ministry in their churches.

We are SO thankful for each of you and the support you offer! We continually praise God for the supporters we have and ask that He bless you.
